Hammer Films Productions was founded in 1934 and is a British film production company based in London. Hammer Film Productions produced science fiction, thrillers, film noir and comedies and in later years television series. Hammer Films was founded by William Hinds, James Carreras. Hammer films made low-budget suspense thrillers, often in black-and-white which were made in the mould of Les Diaboliques (1955), although more often compared to the later Psycho. Some examples of the Thriller films they have produced are Nightmare (1964) ,Straight On till Morning (1972) , Fear in the Night (1972).


I decided to research Hammer Film Production because they where a production company based in the U.K which have created multiple genre films and specifically some old classic  budget black and white thrillers. By researching Hammer Film Productions it has helped me identify how a small production company based in London has made it in the industry with several successful films with some of the recent ones being Women in Black and The Resident.
